Product Specs
What is Dri-Dek made from?
Dri-Dek is made from flexible virgin Oxy-B1 polyvinyl chloride (PVC) vinyl. It includes UV stabilizers to prevent fading and degradation outdoors, plus anti-microbial additives that inhibit mold, mildew, and bacteria. It is flame resistant and chemical resistant.
How thick is Dri-Dek and how much does a tile weigh?
Each Dri-Dek tile is 12 inches by 12 inches by 9/16 inch thick. A single 12x12 tile weighs 14.5 ounces.
What is the compression strength of Dri-Dek?
Dri-Dek has a compression strength of over 3,000 PSI. It supports heavy loads including equipment, cargo, and foot traffic in commercial environments.
What is the tensile strength of Dri-Dek?
Tensile strength is 2,750 PSI per ASTM D 412. Elongation 348%.
What temperature range can Dri-Dek handle?
Dri-Dek is designed for continuous environments from -30°F up to 167°F (tested per ASTM D 746). It stays flexible in freezing temperatures and resists deformation in normal hot environments. Avoid direct contact with surfaces hotter than 167°F, such as a black asphalt parking lot in direct summer sun. Garages, patios, pool decks, locker rooms, and boat decks are all well within range.
Will Dri-Dek fade in the sun? How UV resistant is it?
Dri-Dek has excellent UV and weather resistance. Per Weatherometer testing at 720 hours: 99% color retention, 98% retention of tensile strength, 96% retention of elongation, 107% retention of 100% modulus. Outdoor use is fully supported and the colors hold up.
Is Dri-Dek chemical resistant? What chemicals can damage it?
At ambient temperature, Dri-Dek is resistant to inorganic acids, oils, grease, detergents, brine (saltwater), and most organic solvents. It is NOT resistant to: Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK), Tetrahydrofuran (THF), Dimethyl Formamide (DMF), Methyl Iso Butyl Ketone (MIBK), and Phosphate Ester. It withstands less than 50% nitric acid concentration.
Is Dri-Dek safe in chlorine pools and saltwater?
Yes to both. The chemical resistance specification includes brine (saltwater) and inorganic acids (chlorine compounds). Dri-Dek is widely used on pool decks and boat decks specifically because of this resistance.
Is Dri-Dek electrically conductive?
Dri-Dek is non-conductive. Dielectric strength 500 volts per mil (ASTM D 149). Insulation resistance 1,000 megaohms per 1,000 feet (UL 82-106). Volume resistivity 1 x 10^10 ohm-cm (ASTM 257057T). It does not conduct electricity and acts as electrical insulation.
Is Dri-Dek flame resistant?
Yes. Dri-Dek passed the UL 94V-O Vertical Flame Test. It is flame resistant and will not sustain combustion without an external heat source.
Is Dri-Dek anti-microbial?
Yes. Dri-Dek's Oxy-B1 vinyl contains 10,10'-Oxybisphenoxarsine, an anti-microbial additive that inhibits microorganism oxygen absorption. It is effective against a broad range of fungi, bacteria, and actinomycetes including Aspergillus, Penicillium, E. coli, Salmonella, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and many more.
